Terms used on this page
  • Indoor unit model: the number on the indoor unit label, the part before the slash. Decides compatibility. The outdoor unit number doesn't.
  • Suffix: the letters after the capacity digits (the AV1 in FDYAN100AV1). Search works with or without it.
  • Gateway: the AirTouch interface module that talks to the air conditioner. Each brand or protocol has its own, identified by a six-digit Polyaire code (657xxx).
  • Kit code: the orderable part number (672xxx) that includes the gateway and its cable. Order the kit, not the gateway.
  • Wall controller: the air conditioner's own controller. Needed during commissioning even if removed afterwards.
  • Master / Sub (also Main / Slave): which device controls the AC. Set on the gateway DIP switch and on the wall controller.
  • DIP switch: the small switches on the gateway (S1, S2, SW3). 1 = On, 0 = Off. S1 usually sets the gateway address.
  • Field setting: a hidden installer setting on the wall controller, changed with a code (for example Mode 10, code 2 to 03).
  • PCB: the printed circuit board inside the indoor unit, where the gateway wires in.
  • RS485: the two-wire link (A+, B-) between the AirTouch main module and the gateway. Cable 657211 is supplied.
  • P1 / P2 and S21: Daikin connection types. P1/P2 are wall-controller terminals on ducted and VRV units; S21 is a socket on wall-mounted and bulkhead units.
  • CN-CNT: the Panasonic wall-controller connector, 3-pin or 5-pin. Each takes a different gateway.
  • CN65: the connector on a Fujitsu indoor PCB used by the 2-wire gateway 657263.
  • NASA / Non-NASA: the two Samsung communication protocols. They take different gateways.
  • ICAMIB / ICUNO: the two ActronAir BMS (Building Management System) interface boards. Bought from ActronAir; the AirTouch gateway connects to them.
  • VRV: Daikin's multi-indoor-unit system (FX series). Compatible through gateway 657237.
  • R32: a refrigerant. Some brands changed protocol with R32 models, so the gateway or wiring differs (Gree, Samsung).
  • Model family (FDYANxxxAV1): one entry covering every capacity in a series. xxx stands for the capacity digits.
