Why Is a Zone Not Opening or Closing?

If a specific zone in your AirTouch system is not working or only operates intermittently, it could be due to either normal system behavior or a technical issue that may require your air conditioning installer’s assistance.

Normal Operation

If you're using an ITC (Individual Temperature Control) or ITS (Individual Temperature Sensor), it may detect that the room has reached the desired temperature and instruct the system to temporarily close the zone’s damper.

Want more airflow in that zone?

You can manually increase the airflow (cooling or heating) to a zone:

  1. Tap on the Zone Temperature.

  2. Adjust the airflow percentage manually as needed.

In many cases, a zone not receiving airflow is due to the target temperature already being reached. When this happens, the system will reduce or stop airflow to that zone to conserve energy this is expected behavior and does not indicate a fault.

Airflow Still Coming from an Inactive Zone?

If air continues to flow into a zone even when it's off or not required, it may be due to the spill zone settings.

Please check your spill zone configuration by referring to this guide:

When to Contact Your Installer

If a zone is not operating at all and is not receiving any heating or cooling regardless of the settings, there may be a technical issue that needs investigation by a licensed Air Conditioning Installer.

Ask your installer to check the following:

  • Whether the zone motor responds when toggled on/off.

  • If the motor is working, ensure there are no restrictions in the ductwork.

  • Test the zone control cable for faults.

  • Inspect the zone port on the main control module.

  • Confirm the zone damper or motor is functioning properly.
